Welcome to Year 1 Willow class page!
A warm welcome from the Willow class team
Our new topic, for Summer 1, is ‘Enchanted Woods’…
We are going to take a trip into the woods this next half term. We will explore the types of plants and trees we may discover in the woods and we’ll learn about ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, innovating what else could have happened with the wolf and her Grandma.
Please check our key learning document for further details into our new topic.
Willow class really enjoyed learning all about the animals we saw at Marwell zoo on our school trip last week.
Our topic last half term was Astonishing Animals
During that topic we explored animals including humans. We learnt about animal types and what we needed to keep healthy. We explored maps and learnt more about the area where we live. We learnt how to keep ourselves safe on the roads. At the end of the topic, we visited Marwell Zoo to consolidate our understanding. For our fab finish, we had a class assembly to show our grown-ups what we’d learnt.
Our topic for last half term was Lively London
We were exploring our Country’s capital city, weather across the seasons, and our Royal family in this engaging topic.
Please check out our topic key learning where you will find the ‘key’ knowledge we learnt last half term.
Our previous topic for Autumn 2 was ‘Take Off!’
That half term we explored space and important significant figures involved in space exploration. We explored two contrasting regions here on Earth and learnt about features of our world such as hot and cold areas.
Our topic in Autumn 1 was ‘Dinosaur World!’
That half term we walked going back in time to walk with the dinosaurs!
