Welcome to our Nursery class page!

A warm welcome from the Nursery team...

It has been a very exciting week in Nursery. The children have been painting ice castles. A egg was found in Forest school and the children had lots of fun taking part in sports day. (27.06.2022-01.07.2022)

This week in Nursery the children have been at different sea animals. They enjoyed playing in our artic themed tuff tray, making sea animal tangrams and created patterns on fish using paint and celery. During Forest school the children also took part in pond dipping. (20.06.2022-24.06.2022)

This week the children have continued to enjoy our ‘Under the Sea’ topic. The children have played in our beach theme role play area, enjoyed our ‘slime’ sea animal tuff tray and water play. (13.06.2022-17.06.2022)

This week we have been focusing on developing our fine motor skills, through very different activities. (06.06.2022-10.06.2022)

Our latest topic is 'Under the Sea!'

 

This half term in Nursery we will be looking at what we need to do to stay safe in the sun; animals that live in the sea; days at the beach; pirates and mermaids.

This week the children have had a fantastic time celebrating the Queen’s 70th Jubilee. We finished with a whole school picnic on the school field. (23.05.2022-27.05.2022)

This week the children have been learning about rainforests and the animals that live there. They created their own rainforest animals using playdough, had fun using the dab paints to create chameleons and went on their very own rainforest animal hunt. To top off a fantastic week in Acorn class, the children were extremely excited when they found a lizard on the school field. (16.05.2022-20.05.2022)

This week the children have been learning the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. There were lots of activities over the week that were based around the story; from making their own beanstalks and leaves, painting pictures from the story and doing their very own jellybean experiment. (09.05.2022-13.05.2022)

This week the children have been learning about homes, buildings and towers. They created pictures of houses using different shapes and worked as a team to building various different construction pieces. (02.05.2022-06.05.2022)

This week we have been looking at how much we have grown since being a baby. The children decorated a person; drew their own faces with the help of a mirror and measured hands and feet using cubes and rulers. (25.04.2022-29.04.2022)

This half term in Nursery we will be looking at how much we have changed since being a baby; looking at different houses and where people live; growing different plants and vegetables; finding about about rainforest and talking about why recycling is important.

The children have had a fantastic last week , before the Easter holidays. They have had chance to hold the chicks, have a school disco and go on an Easter egg hunt. (04.04.2022-08.04.2022)

This week in Nursery we have been learning about colours. The children explored missing different colours, painted their own rainbows, explored painting on ice and sorting colours into groups. (28.03.2022-01.04.2022)

This week in Nursery we having been learning all about what flowers and plants need to grow. The children planted their own cress and sunflowers. They also painted their own daffodils and explored flowers frozen in ice. (21.03.2022-25.03.2022)

This week we have been learning about farm animals. The children have created animal prints, washed the muddy animals and created their own farm animal art and crafts. (14.03.2022-18.03.2022)

This week we learnt the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. The children made their own caterpillars; learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly and discussed which foods were healthy and a treat that the caterpillar ate. (07.03.2022-11.03.2022)

This week we have started off our ‘Flowers, Sunshine and Springtime’ topic by looking at bugs. We have been on bug hunts, create bug paintings and had bugs in jelly. (07.03.2022-11.03.2022)

This half term in Nursery we will be going on bug hunts to investigate what bugs we have on our school grounds. Thinking about the different weather and what happens in Springtime. We will be looking at the different baby animals that are born this time of the year and planting and growing our own flowers and plants.

This week the children have been learning the story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. The children had lots of fun retelling the story themselves, in the tuff tray. They also had a teddy bears picnic, in the role play area and went on their own bear hunt. (14.02.2022-18.02.2022)

This week the children have been learning the story of ‘The Gruffalo’. The children went on a hunt to look for the characters from the book. They also enjoyed making their own Gruffalo crumble and enjoyed eating it even more. (07.02.2022-11.02.2022)

This week the children have been learning all about Chinese New Year and the traditions that surround its. They made Origami tigers, created their own red envelopes and explored noodles and rice with chopsticks. (31.01.2022-04.02.2022)

This week the children have been learning the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. They created their own bridges for the goats and tested them out. They measured and looked at sizes of different characters and also developed their gross motor skills by climbing over their own bridge. (24.01.2022-28.01.2022)

This week this children enjoyed learning the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. Throughout the week, they role played the story. Feed baby bear to help develop their motor skills and made their own bears. (17.01.2022-21.01.2022)

This week the children have been developing their fine motor skills. They have done this through drawing, scissors skills, remote control cars and creating patterns with duplo.

The children had fun learning the story of The Three Little Pigs this week. They had a go at retelling the story themselves. Made their own houses out of mud and sticks and painted their own pictures of pigs. (03.01.2022-07.01.2022)

Our latest topic is 'Story time in the Woods!'

 

This half term in Nursery we will be learning various different stories that are set in the woods. Each week we will focus on a different story, these will be, The Three Little Pigs; Little Red Riding Hood; Goldilocks and the three bears; Three Billy Goats Gruff; The Snake who said Shhh; The Gruffalo and We’re going on a Bear Hunt. We will act them out with puppets, talking about key events and complete lots of fun activities based around the stories.

The children had lots of fun completing the Santa dash.

The children had lots of fun at the school disco.

We had a very special visitor arrive in Acorn class, Alan the elf. He left us a letter telling us he had come all the way from the North Pole to see the lovely activities we do in nursery.

The children had great fun coming into school in their pyjamas for children in need. During the day the children also had lots of fun making pudsey masks and doing a Children in Need picture trail where they had finding various pictures of bing characters and Pudsey. Once they found one of the characters in the playground they ticked it off on their clipboard. Once they found them all the received a sticker.

The children loved going on a autumn walk on to the field looking for red and yellow leaves as well as walking through the trees. All the children had a go at taking pictures of the autumn objects they spotted on the schools iPads.

Our latest topic is 'Sticks and Tricks!'

 

This half term in Nursery we will be talking and learning about the different seasons. We will be going on autumn walks and exploring autumnal objects. We will also be sharing are 5 special books, which will be, Stickman; The Smartest Giant in Town; Ten Fat Sausages; The Ugly Duckling and Little Rabbit Foo Foo.

We have been looking at hygiene and keeping clean during our topic. The children had lots of fun cleaning the babies and drying them. They also washed the baby clothes and pegged them up to dry.

The children have been learning about what food is healthy and which ones we have for a treat. This morning the children cut up their own fruit snack to make a fruit salad. We talked about using the knife safely and they were very careful.

The children have been learning about hygiene and how to keep themselves clean. The children had fun with this brushing teeth activity. We discussed what we use to brush our teeth and when we brush them.

This week we have been looking at why it is important to keep healthy exercise. The children had a go at completing the obstacle course set out for them. They all had lots of fun!

This week we have been looking at healthy eating. The children sorted food two groups, those that are healthy and those that are treats.

Our latest topic is 'Marvellous Me!'

 

This half term in Nursery we will be talking about our different families and who we live with. We will be learning how to eat healthy by looking at healthy and non-healthy foods by making and exploring healthy foods. As always we’ll have lots of fun sharing our 5 special books, singing lots of nursery rhymes and learning through play and exploration.
